Equine Safety in Training & Vet Nursing Projects Submitted for Endorsement

The Veterinary Nursing and Equine Safety in Training projects have now been submitted to the Australian Industry and Skills Committee (AISC) for consideration and endorsement.

Veterinary Nursing Project

The final draft veterinary nursing units of competency and qualifications have now been submitted to the Australian Industry and Skills Committee (AISC) for consideration and approval at their next meeting.

They have been submitted as part of a Case for Endorsement, which provides the AISC with a case for approving the final draft units and qualifications. Once endorsed, the units and qualifications will be published on training.gov.au and available for use by registered training organisations (RTOs).

Equine Safety in Training Project

The final draft units of competency, skill sets and qualifications have now been submitted to the Australian Industry and Skills Committee (AISC) as part of a Case for Endorsement, to be considered at their next meeting.

It includes all equine related units of competency, skill sets and qualifications from the ACM Animal Care and Management and AHC Agriculture, Horticulture, and Conservation and Land Management Training Packages, but it does not include those from the RGR Racing Training Package.

Feedback from industry was that the proposed safety measures being applied to the AHC and ACM units were not appropriate for the Horse Racing Industry. As such, a new Racing Industry Review Project has been established to satisfactorily incorporate safety into the units, skill sets and qualifications within the RGR Racing Training Package.

The Case for Endorsement provides the AISC with a case for approving the ACM and AHC units, skill sets and qualifications. Once endorsed, they will be published on training.gov.au and available for use by registered training organisations (RTOs).
