Still Time to Provide Validation for Ag and Horticulture Core Skills and Pig and Poultry Farming

Ag & Horticulture Core Skills Project

Underpinning Australia’s agriculture and horticulture industry are a set of core skills used across different sectors and work environments. This includes skills in work health and safety, environmental practices, quality assurance procedures, and workplace recording, as well as skills to support infrastructure and to coordinate and facilitate community groups.

Draft qualifications, skill set and units are now available for validation and further comment. They have been updated so that they more accurately reflect job roles and functions and so that they can be accessed by learners with the appropriate skill level.

Pig and Poultry Farming Project

Australia’s pig and poultry farming industries rely on skills in biosecurity, work health and safety, and animal welfare practices to produce quality meat and egg products. The national skills standards for this work are being reviewed so that they match current job functions, terminology, equipment and legislation.

The updated documents are available for validation and further comment. They have been updated so that they are clearer and more accurately reflect industry skills requirements.
