Still Time to Feedback on Pet Care & Animal Training Skills Standards

Feedback is still open for the final draft skills standards for pet grooming, animal health care, animal training, assistance animals, companion and therapy animals, and regulation.

We understand that many of you are busy responding to developments related to COVID-19 and for this reason the date for feedback has been extended to 16 April 2020. If you are available to do so, we encourage you to provide feedback through our online feedback hub, phone or email.

Australians place a great deal of value on the health and happiness of their pets and assistance animals, recognising how this can in turn benefit their own wellbeing. The review and development of skills standards in pet care and animal training is important for promoting a skilled workforce, in turn supporting the place of animals in our communities and homes.

Industry experts have led the review and the redesign of the documents so that they better address foundational skills while still offering options to specialise. Feedback is sought on whether the final draft documents accurate reflect work practices, terminology, and job roles.
