Specialist Meat Processing Skills Standards Endorsed

Thanks to everyone who contributed to the projects listed below, Australia’s meat processing industry will soon have access to updated skills standards for a range of specialist job roles.

The units and skill sets have been endorsed by the Australian Industry and Skills Committee and State and will soon be considered for endorsement by the State and Territory Ministers, before being published on training.gov.au and available for RTOs to put on scope.

Game Harvesting Auditing Project

developed skills standards for the audit of mobile chillers or ‘depots’ used to transport game meat from harvester to processor, to support quality and safety standards of Australian game meat.

Halal Meat Processing Project

developed one skill set and two units in halal meat processing, supporting industry with consistent skills standards as it moves toward a single halal certification.

Poultry Processing Project

reviewed and developed skills standards to support the skills required to work with increasingly automated systems in the poultry processing sector.
