You’re invited to provide feedback on the redrafted qualifications, skill sets and units of competency for the racing and breeding industry. They have been drafted as part of the following three projects:
- Greyhound Health Assistance Services
- Horse Breeding Skills
- Retraining Horses & Greyhounds to New Environments
This round of feedback is about checking the documents are logical and factually accurate. Let us know whether the final drafts accurately reflect the current industry skills standards, knowledge and practices and whether all job functions are accurately described.

Greyhound Health Assistance Services Project
This project focuses on the skills and knowledge required to administer therapy practices, such as massage and first-aid, to greyhounds. In response to industry input so far, one qualification, six skill sets and 11 units have been developed or revised.
Horse Breeding Skills Project
This project focuses on the knowledge and skills essential to breeding racehorses in line with specific Australian breeding requirements. As a result of consultation so far, four qualifications, five skill sets and 22 units of competency have been revised or developed.
Retraining Horses & Greyhounds to New Environments Project
This project focuses on the skills required to assess, re-train and re-home horses and greyhounds after their racing careers have finished. As a result of consultation so far, 17 qualifications, four skill sets and 9 units of competency have been revised or developed.
