Provide Feedback on Job Role Classifications for Conservation & Ecosystem Management

The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) is inviting feedback on the classification of job roles in the focus area of scientific research services, including conservation and ecosystem management occupations, such as:

  • environmental managers
  • conservation officers
  • environmental consultants
  • environmental research scientists
  • park rangers
  • environmental scientists.

The ABS is conducting an online survey to collect information on how these job roles are defined in the Australian and New Zealand Standard Classification of Occupations (ANZSCO), which is used when gathering statistics about the Australian workforce. If you have experience relevant to one or more of these roles, you are invited to provide feedback.

Your input will help ensure the ANZSCO accurately reflects the conservation and ecosystem management workforce. The ANZSCO underpins the apprenticeship system and informs important government programs and funding, including the National Skills Needs List, eligibility for VISAs and skilled migration programs.

We encourage your input:

Skills Insight will be making a submission to the survey based on industry consultation and the way the qualifications framework interacts with ANZSCO classifications. You are encouraged to contribute by getting in touch with Industry Engagement Manager, Michelle Ingley-Smith, at [email protected] or 03 9321 3526. Please contact us by 18 April to have your say.

You are also welcome to make your own submission to the survey. If you would like assistance completing the survey, you are also welcome to get in touch.

This is the first of four rounds of consultation planned by the ABS for 2023-24 as part of a comprehensive review of ANZSCO.
