Our Role Establishing Skills Insight JSC

Skills Impact held a Skills Service Organisation (SSO) role between 2016 and 2022. In 2023 we established one of ten Job and Skills Councils (JSCs), after a submission to move into the role was backed by over 200 letters of support from a broad range of industry stakeholders. This new JSC, Skills Insight, has a broader scope to deliver outcomes that support a responsive VET system and a skilled and resilient national workforce. The industry coverage of Skills Insight is similar to our past coverage as a Skills Service Organisation.

Animal Reproduction Skills Standards Available for Feedback

Skills are being reviewed due to a range of new technologies being accessible to increase the productivity of breeding programs, building on skills farmers have used for generations. Technologies such as sensors, trackers and ultrasound equipment are being used to identify breeding objectives, genetic influences, animal soundness and animal breeding health, helping promote better animal welfare outcomes, efficiency and sustainability. The Gottstein Trust 2020 Funding Appeal

The Gottstein Trust is the national education trust for the forestry and timber products industry, providing support for the aquasition of knowledge that will benefit the sector through its annual granting of Scholarships, Fellowship and Industry Skill Awards. Updated Forest and Wood Products Skills Standards Published Soon

As a result of the time and expertise volunteered by stakeholders over the past 12 months, Australia’s forest and timber industry will soon have access to updated skills standards for a range of job roles and tasks, including timber truss and frame estimating and manufacturing, timber building products supply, and working with new harvesting technologies. Pharmaceutical Bioprocessing Units Submitted for Endorsement

Thanks to the contributions of everyone involved in this project, updated units will soon be available to support skills in pharmaceutical bioprocessing manufacture and distribution. The documents have recently been submitted to the Australian Industry and Skills Committee (AISC) for endorsement, after which they will be forwarded to State and Territory Ministers. High Volume Production Baking Skills Standards Available for Feedback

The skills required in the plant baking sector are shifting, as high demand for a variety of baked goods in Australian supermarkets drives industry to become increasingly digitalised and automated.
