Opportunity to Feedback on Pet Care & Animal Training Skills Standards

You still have the opportunity to provide feedback on draft skills standards in pet grooming, animal health care, animal training, assistance animals, companion and therapy animals, and regulation. Feedback is being collected until Friday 3 April 2020.

Based on feedback received so far, a new draft Certificate IV in Animal Care Facility Management has been developed, to support the skills development of people who manage animal shelters, boarding facilities and exhibited animal environments. It is proposed to replace the existing Certificate IV in Captive Animals and Certificate IV in Companion Animal Services.

Australian pet owners are becoming more invested in keeping their pets happy and healthy, which is driving an expanding market of pet products and services. It is also increasing the need for more skilled workers for working with animals in a range of settings. Industry experts have led the review and the redesign of the documents so that they better address foundational skills while still offering options to specialise.

Visit the project page to provide feedback. Your feedback is welcome on all draft documents.
