New Structure Proposed for Racing Industry Reference Committee

The Australian Industry Skills Committee (AISC) is seeking feedback on the proposed structure of the Racing Industry Reference Committee (IRC).

This committee, on behalf of industry, is responsible for overseeing the development of occupational and skills standards, and qualifications within the RGR Racing Training Package.

It is proposed that the committee would comprise of representatives with relevant expertise across the following industry sectors:

  • 12-13 positions are allocated to:
    • 8 organisation positions representing the Principal Racing Authorities covering thoroughbreds, harness racing and greyhounds
    • 1 organisation position representing Racing Australia or Racing Clubs generally – Thoroughbreds
    • 2 positions representing animal welfare, safety and breeding (including for commercial racing industries)
    • 1-2 positions would be open for representatives of racing employees and jockeys

The proposed structure for this IRC is now open for public comment and consultation on the AISC website, until COB Thursday 23 March 2017.
