New Structure Proposed for Agriculture, Horticulture, Conservation and Land Management Skills Committee

The Australian Industry Skills Committee (AISC) is seeking further feedback on the proposed structure of the Industry Reference Committee (IRC) for Agriculture, Horticulture and Conservation and Land Management industries.

It follows feedback late last year, during the first round of consultation, that these industries be supported by two committees:

  • Amenity Horticulture, Landscaping, Conservation and Land Management IRC, and
  • Agriculture IRC (encompassing agriculture and production horticulture)

Currently, the Rural and Related Industries IRC is responsible for overseeing the development of occupational skills standards, and qualifications for these industries.

Feedback from the initial consultation process also suggested that arboriculture qualifications and units be placed under the oversight of the Forest Management and Harvesting IRC which now includes a designated position for Arboriculture Australia.

A modified proposal has been developed and is available for a second round of consultation and feedback.

The AISC is seeking industry feedback until COB Tuesday 14 February 2017.
