New Projects Underway

Work has begun on a range of new projects to update and improve industry qualifications and skills standards.

Project planning is underway and Skills Impact and the Industry Reference Committees (IRCs) have been reaching out to industry experts for their input into the projects.

Project webpages will progressively become available over the next two months. Some are already published, where you can read more information about the projects and register your interest.

Agriculture and Horticulture Projects

  • Rehabilitation of mined land

Animal Care and Management Projects

Food, Beverage and Pharmaceutical Projects

Forest and Wood Products Projects

  • Review of qualifications to attract new entrants
  • Review of high level jobs in forestry
  • Safety mindsets in remote operations

Meat Projects

  • Meat rendering
  • Electric meat slicing skills
  • Pre-rendering meat processing

Pulp and Paper Manufacturing Projects

  • Rationalise pulp and paper manufacture

Racing and Breeding Projects

  • Alteration to packaging rules and application statement in Certificate II in Racing Industry
  • Simplifying certificate IV qualifications for riders and drivers

The projects were proposed in this year’s Annual Updates to the IRC Skills Forecasts and approved by the Australian Industry and Skills Council.

How to get involved

If you have experience in any of these areas and are interested in participating in the development of draft skills standards throughout the project, you have the opportunity to volunteer as a subject matter expert (SME). Please contact us if you are interested.
