Medicinal Crops Skills Standards Available for Validation

The expanding medicinal cannabis sector in Australia requires workers with the skills and knowledge to operate within the sector’s regulatory framework and security requirements. It also requires skills in propagation, care, maintenance, harvest and pre-processing of the plants on a licensed medicinal cannabis production site.

Your views have been collected on three new qualifications, 13 units of competency and four skill sets, which have been developed to capture these much needed skills. This feedback has been incorporated into the final draft documents which are now available for your validation and comment.

Visit the project page to view the final drafts and determine whether they accurately describe your industry’s work practices and job roles.

“The medicinal cannabis sector has some unique features due to the regulatory environment in which it operates. This impacts the employee pool, the required skills and knowledge of employees and the nature of production. Work needs to comply with regulatory and security requirements, combined with elements of agriculture, horticulture, protected crops and pharmaceutical systems.” Rosemary Richards, Executive Manager Medicinal Cannabis Industry Association
