Meat Processing Skills Standards Available for Validation

We need your help to check that draft skills standards for the meat processing industry accurately reflect job roles and industry practices.

Your input during the previous round of feedback has been considered in these final draft units of competency, skill sets and qualifications. They are now available for validation by following the links to the individual project pages below.

Diploma & Advanced Diploma in Meat Processing Project

The Diploma and Advanced Diploma of Meat Processing and the units within them have been reviewed to support skills at a management and leadership level. Two new units have also been developed to capture skills standards for managing a feedlot facility and managing animal welfare performance across the supply chain.

These updates to the qualifications will help maintain the strong position of Australian meat processing by supporting the skills to develop business strategy and identify opportunities and new products.

The draft units and qualifications are now available for validation. To view the documents and provide comment, visit the project page.

Game Harvesting Auditing Project

One unit and one skill set have been developed to support the move towards formalisation of skills in game harvesting auditing.

This will help keep Australian game meat fresh and safe across the supply chain, from individual harvesters, to field depots that collect and transport the meat, to the meat processors.

The final draft unit and skill set are now available for validation. To have your say on whether they meet industry need, visit the project page.

Halal Meat Processing

One new skill set and two new units have been developed to support the Australian meat processing industry as it moves towards a single Australian halal certification scheme. This will help promote the continued success of Australian halal products through consistent and recognisable standards.
