Our Role Establishing Skills Insight JSC

Skills Impact held a Skills Service Organisation (SSO) role between 2016 and 2022. In 2023 we established one of ten Job and Skills Councils (JSCs), after a submission to move into the role was backed by over 200 letters of support from a broad range of industry stakeholders. This new JSC, Skills Insight, has a broader scope to deliver outcomes that support a responsive VET system and a skilled and resilient national workforce. The industry coverage of Skills Insight is similar to our past coverage as a Skills Service Organisation.

Help Define Skills Standards in Medicinal Crops

The medicinal crops industry in Australia is expanding, with new legislation allowing for the production of medicinal cannabis in addition to the poppy crops that were already in production.

Given the high level of regulation and their high value as a pharmaceutical agent, specialist skills are needed to grow and harvest the plants while upholding compliance and security measures.

Consultation has taken place with industry stakeholders to define the skill requirements for the cultivation and production of medicinal cannabis, which have been captured in draft units of competency, skill sets and qualifications.

Now is your chance to have your say on the draft documents and offer advice on whether they accurately represent the practices and job roles of the medical crop sector.

There is also the opportunity to attend free workshops near you and provide feedback on the documents in person.
