Have Your Say on Draft Qualifications & Skills Standards for Pig and Poultry Farming

It is important that Australian pig and poultry farming skills standards are kept up to date so that farmers can continue to meet demand for popular egg, poultry meat and pork products. Industry needs access to a workforce skilled in current biosecurity, work health and safety, and animal welfare practices who can work in line with current legislation.

Industry experts have led the development of draft qualifications, skill sets and units of competency which are now available for your review and feedback.

The Certificate III in Poultry Production has been updated to include specialisations for traditional poultry workers, poultry breeders, poultry egg graders and poultry contract workers. The core units listed within the Certificate III in Pork Production have been updated to incorporate skills standards around biosecurity, current work health and safety practices, and animal welfare requirements.

Input from those with experience in pork and/or poultry farming is encouraged.
