Entry Level Forestry Skills Project

The forestry industry is focused on attracting and training new entrants to keep up with demand for forest products and government commitments to plant more trees.

Industry feedback has been considered to revise and develop qualifications, skill sets and units that aim to facilitate efficient training delivery and provide visible career pathways for school students, new entrants and existing workers.

To help support the future generation of learners in this sector, industry input it needed to validate the final drafts.

High-Level Forestry Skills Project

Growing sustainable forests for timber, wood and fibre products requires strong skills in management, supervision and planning.

The qualifications and skills standards to support high-level forestry skills have been revised to reflect the requirements to work with data and new technology, to optimise forest management practices, improve forest health and wood flow outcomes, and to promote safe work practices.

To validate whether these final drafts reflect these higher-level forestry skills, visit the project page.

Remote Forestry Operations Project

Two units have been revised and developed to describe the skills and knowledge required to apply situational awareness and a safety mindset while working in team situations or alone, in isolation or out of line of sight.

Leadership is critical for work taking place in remote locations, to actively promote and shape a culture around safety. Your input is needed to validate the drafts, helping to support the safety of the industry.
