Food and Beverage Processing and Flour Milling Skills Standards Available for Validation

Thanks to all those who have contributed to the projects listed below, draft skills standards have been developed for a range of job roles across the food and beverage industry. Your feedback to date has been considered in the development of the final drafts, which now require further input to check they are accurate.

Food & Beverage Processing Project

With consumer trends inspiring innovations in traceability, automation, and contaminant control over the past ten years, the skills required for working in the food and beverage processing industry have changed.

Your feedback to date has been used to inform updates to the draft documents, which are now available for validation.

Further industry input is needed to check the updated skills standards reflect current practices and terminology.

To validate the documents, visit the project page.

Flour Milling Project

The skills used by flour milling operatives are similar to those used across other large scale food processing environments and are impacted by similar factors, such as increased automation. As the machinery used in milling becomes more complex, the skills needed by millers are changing, with workers needing to be across a larger part of the process.

Thanks to your input, draft qualifications, skill sets and units have been further updated to reflect these skills. The documents are now available for validation.

One unit is also available for broader consultation and comment, as it was developed as a result of feedback received on the previous drafts.

To view the documents and provide validation, visit the project page.

Note for RTOs

A separate project is underway to update old FDF units that are still contained in some qualifications. This work has been progressing and the units will soon be available for validation. Click through for more information.
