Establishing a Jobs & Skills Council

Following the announcement by the Skills Minister last year and being awarded a stage one establishment contract, Skills Impact is working to establish an Agribusiness Job and Skills Council to provide industry with a stronger, more strategic voice in Australia’s VET sector.

This new JSC, Skills Insight, will have a broader scope to deliver outcomes that support a responsive VET system and a skilled and resilient national workforce, beyond training package development.

Skills Insight will service industries across the agribusiness supply chain, including primary production, plants and animals, forestry and timber, textiles, clothing and footwear and furnishings as well as emerging industries around natural resource security and environmental management.

Collaboration will be the cornerstone of Skills Insight’s approach. Together with employers, unions, registered training providers (RTOs), and other JSCs, we will provide strategic leadership, aligning efforts across industries to improve system responsiveness, build stakeholder confidence and suggest improvements to lead high-quality outcomes for the VET sector, learners, and business.

Skills Insight will perform several functions, including workforce planning, training product development, implementation, promotion and monitoring, and industry stewardship.

A website for Skills Insight will be available in the coming months. In the meantime, if you’d like to stay up to date, please subscribe to our mailing list.
