Drafts Coming Soon for Fishtech & Aquabotics

Work is underway to capture the skills standards for working with a range of new technologies in aquaculture and wild catch. This includes remotely operated vehicles (ROVs), drones (in air and water) and biosensors, which are now being used by some of Australia’s larger aquaculture operators.

Tasks that were once performed manually now require skills in operating technology and managing and interpreting data.

As such, relevant units of competency are being reviewed so that they are suitable for use in real-time distant operations. New units and skill sets have also been identified for development.

The draft documents will be made available in the next few weeks. A news alert will be sent when this has happened, so stay tuned.

There will also be the opportunity to attend free industry workshops, where feedback on the drafts can be discussed among industry and with the project team.
