Drafts Available for Feedback for Respect for Country Job Skills Project

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures have developed skills and knowledge for land and sea management activities over thousands of years. Some of these crucial skills are described in nationally endorsed qualifications, skill sets and units that are used to equip leaners for jobs in ecosystem management, conservation, environmental and cultural analysis, and ranger occupations, as well as roles preparing regulatory, government or legislative reports.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are leading and guiding the review and development work of national skills standards for Indigenous Land Management and Aboriginal Sites Work.

Draft qualifications, skill sets and units of competency have been developed and are now available for feedback.

They have been updated to reflect current terminology and inclusive language, to better reflect job roles and to support delivery. Consideration has also been given to the skills required by learners to work with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander communities in a culturally safe way.
