Draft Skills Standards Still Available for Feedback for AHC Projects

A number of projects are currently still open for feedback, including projects to update industry skills standards for job roles in permaculture, organic production, composting and pig and poultry farming, as well as job skills for respecting Country.

Permaculture, Organic Production & Composting Project

Systems based around principles of permaculture, organic farming and composting draw on the latest technology, as well as traditional practices, including those used by Indigenous cultures around the world. It is important the national skills standards for this work are kept up to date so that producers can keep up with increasing demand for locally and sustainably grown produce.

There is still time to have your say on qualifications, skill sets and units that have been drafted to reflect the current skills need of the permaculture, organic farming and composting sectors.

For more information and to have your say, visit the project page.

Pig and Poultry Farming Project

Australia’s pig and poultry farming industry needs access to a workforce skilled in current biosecurity, work health and safety, and animal welfare practices who can work in line with current legislation.

Industry experts have led the development of draft qualifications, skill sets and units of competency to capture the skills required for this work. These are still available for your review and comment.

For more information and provide feedback, visit the project page.

Respect for Country Job Skills Project

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures have developed skills and knowledge for land and sea management activities over thousands of years. Some of these crucial skills are described in nationally endorsed qualifications, skill sets and units that are used to equip leaners for jobs in ecosystem management, conservation, environmental and cultural analysis, and ranger occupations, as well as roles preparing regulatory, government or legislative reports.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are leading and guiding the review and development work of national skills standards for Indigenous Land Management and Aboriginal Sites Work.

Draft qualifications, skill sets and units of competency have been developed and are now available for feedback.
