Animal Care and Management Qualifications & Units Available for Feedback

You are invited to provide feedback on the draft documents for the two projects summarised below.

We are seeking feedback on whether the qualifications, skill sets and units of competency reflect the current skills standards and practices of industry, and whether job functions are accurately described.

Animal Incident Management Project
This project has reviewed and developed skill sets and units relating to incidents involving large animals, and large groups of animals. Twelve new units and five new skill sets have been devised. In addition, three existing units have been reviewed. A particular focus of this project has been minimising the risk of injury to people involved and improving animal welfare outcomes. This includes the development and review of units related to animal first aid.

Horse Education Project
Four new units of competency have been developed and three existing units revised as part of the Horse Education Project. One microchipping unit and two units relating to the RGR Racing and Breeding Training Package Horse Breeding project are also included due to content overlap. The review of the documents has focused on fostering a safe environment for learners and ensuring the welfare of horses. Visit the project page
