Ag & Horticulture Core Skills Project Submitted to AISC for Endorsement

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the Ag & Horticulture Core Skills Project over the past 12 months. As a result of your input, the draft qualifications, skill sets and units have been finalised and submitted to the Australian Industry and Skills Committee. Once endorsed by the AISC, the drafts will be forwarded to the state and territory skills ministers for their endorsement, and published on the national training register (training.gov.au).

Consultation has taken place throughout this project to update some of the core skills underpinning Australia’s agriculture and horticulture industries. Your input has helped update qualifications, skill sets and units so that they reflect real job functions and support career pathways.

They have been revised to include skills for working with the latest technology, systems and regulations, as well as skills in biosecurity, environmental sustainability, quality assurance and work health and safety.

Three new units and a skill set have been developed to address industry skills needs. One qualification and nine units are proposed for deletion as they are no longer required by industry.
