Our Role Establishing Skills Insight JSC

Skills Impact held a Skills Service Organisation (SSO) role between 2016 and 2022. In 2023 we established one of ten Job and Skills Councils (JSCs), after a submission to move into the role was backed by over 200 letters of support from a broad range of industry stakeholders. This new JSC, Skills Insight, has a broader scope to deliver outcomes that support a responsive VET system and a skilled and resilient national workforce. The industry coverage of Skills Insight is similar to our past coverage as a Skills Service Organisation.

Thank you to those who helped validate the draft units and skill sets developed for constructing, designing and maintaining roof gardens, vertical gardens and green facades. Your feedback will now be used to consider final updates to the drafts, before they progress to the ‘finalisation’ stage of the project. After they have undergone a final checking process, the documents will be submitted for endorsement by the Australian Industry and Skills Committee (AISC) and State/Territory Ministers. Thanks to the hard work and passion of all the stakeholders who contributed to this project, updated skills standards in arboriculture are now published on training.gov.au. The skills standards for this specialist profession now offer improved accessibility and entry requirements and more accurately reflect job roles. The revised and developed qualifications and skills standards will support future learners in a career caring for and managing trees. Opportunity to Validate Nursery Units

You’re invited to review and validate 12 revised nursery units, which have been reviewed as part of the Horticulture and Nursery Project. Skills Standards Endorsed by the AISC

As we look towards begining new projects for a range of industries, many of the skills standards reviewed and developed over the past twelve months are getting closer to being available. The final draft skills standards for the below projects have been endorsed by the Australian Industry and Skills Council. They will now be considered by State and Territory Ministers and following their endorsement, they will become available training.gov.au. We are excited to start working with IRCs and stakeholders on a range of new projects that have been approved by the Australian Industry and Skills Council (AISC). Thanks to everyone who contributed to this project, Australia’s arboriculture industry will soon have access to updated skills standards, including five revised qualifications, three new skill sets, 37 revised units and two new units. They have been updated so that they are more accessible and more accurately reflect specific job roles. Still Time to Validate Green Walls and Rooftop Gardens Units and Skill Sets

You still have a few days to validate draft units and skill sets developed for constructing, designing and maintaining roof gardens, vertical gardens and green facades. They have been updated to reflect the additional industry feedback that was collected as a result of issues raised by the Amenity Horticulture, Landscaping and Conservation and Land Management IRC.
