The arboriculture units of competency, skill sets and qualifications are going through the AISC endorsement process. The rules around the use of Minimum Industry Standards (MIS) in training packages is being considered. There is also concern as to whether there is a demonstrated need for the proposed higher level qualifications.  

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the development of national skills standards in agronomy. Your input has resulted in the creation of two new units, one skill set and a new national Diploma of Applied Agronomy, as well as the review of six existing units. They have been developed to support the hands-on skills needed by industry to put agronomy science into action, supporting farmers to get the best long term results from the land.  

Thank you to those who provided feedback on the below projects. Your comments are being used to inform updates to the draft documents. Once these changes have been made, we will be seeking further advice about whether the final versions match skills needs and job roles for your sector. Feedback on draft units and qualifications in conservation and land management has indicated the need for additional new units to be developed in the sub-sectors of marine, fire, natural area restoration and ecology. These additional new units are now available for your review and comment.  

Your views have been collected on draft units, skill sets and qualifications for sectors including horticulture, nursery and merchandising. This feedback has been incorporated into the final draft documents which are now available for your review and comment. Skills Impact recently surveyed registered training organisations (RTOs) on their experiences transitioning to the new baking qualifications. The information from this survey supported the next step of a teleconference to connect training providers to share their ideas and challenges. It also helped inform our submission to the Government about a nationally consistent approach to the development of delivery and assessment materials. Qualifications and skills standards that were developed to support job roles in the artisanal food and beverage industry are currently being considered for endorsement by the Australian Industry and Skills Committee (AISC).

Skills standards are being defined for pharmaceutical bioprocessing.
