Our Role Establishing Skills Insight JSC

Skills Impact held a Skills Service Organisation (SSO) role between 2016 and 2022. In 2023 we established one of ten Job and Skills Councils (JSCs), after a submission to move into the role was backed by over 200 letters of support from a broad range of industry stakeholders. This new JSC, Skills Insight, has a broader scope to deliver outcomes that support a responsive VET system and a skilled and resilient national workforce. The industry coverage of Skills Insight is similar to our past coverage as a Skills Service Organisation.

Review of Meat Industry Committee

The Meat Industry Reference Committee for skills (IRC) is currently being reviewed in a process established by the Australian Industry and Skills Committee (AISC) on behalf of the Australian Government. This committee, on behalf of industry, is responsible for overseeing the development of occupational and skills standards and qualifications within the AMP Australian Meat Processing Training Package. Work Plans Submitted to Australian Industry Skills Committee

Four Year Work Plans were provided to the Department of Education and Training on 29 September 2016 for submission to the Australian Industry Skills Committee (AISC). The AISC will draw on the Four Year Work Plans to update the AISC National Schedule, outlining the training package projects that the government will fund over the next year. Minor Updates to the AHC Training Package

Minor updates have been made to the AHC training package, following feedback from industry about errors within units and qualifications. It follows consultation with the Department of Education and Training to find a fast simple resolution to fix some problems. Documenting Opportunities for Future Training Package Components

Industry Reference Committees (IRCs) are responsible for planning the work that will occur in the upcoming years to skill standards and qualifications for their industry. Audits to Training Package Components

Skills Impact currently has a funded activity order to audit 984 Units of Competency across a number of training packages. Work is underway to make changes to these units to make sure they comply with the 2012 National Skills Standards Policy. Food, Beverage and Pharmaceutical Training Package Improvements

The following projects are underway for the FDF Food, Beverage and Pharmaceutical Training Package: Clarification of outstanding issues relating to retail baking qualifications. Clarification and resolution of issues relating to the food science and technology qualifications. Development of a market intelligence report for the pharmaceutical sector in Australia and potential business case for the review of relevant training package components.

Racing Industry Draft Work Plan Available for Feedback

The Draft Four Year Work Plan for the Racing industry is now available for feedback on the Skills Impact website.
